Application of Digital Twin in the Particulate Process: Impact Pin Mill and Twin Screw Granulation
This paper presents the application of a digital twin in industrial manufacturing with an impact pin mill and twin screw granulator as exemplar studies. A new particle breakage model subject to impact loading pertaining to the impact pin mill was developed, which enables the contribution of the normal and tangential velocity components to be rationalised. In the twin screw granulation, a coupled model with DEM and PBM is proposed with a new breakage kernel developed for the TSG. The application of digital twin is hoped to facilitate the understanding of particulate process and help transit from digital design to digital operation.

Proceedings of the 7th UK–China International Particle Technology Forum
This volume contains the extended abstracts of the 7$^{th}$ UK–China International Particle Technology Forum (PTFVII) and the annual UK Particle Technology Forum which was held jointly in Edinburgh UK on 28$^{th}$ - 31$^{st}$ July 2019. The UK–China International Particle Technology Forum is a not-for-profit conference series run every two years in rotation between the UK and China. It was initiated in 2006 to help facilitate and foster collaborations between communities in both the UK and China in the multidisciplinary field of particle science and technology. The inclusion of the word
‘International’
since 2013 acknowledges the worldwide participation and popularity of this forum.

Multiscale Modelling of a Twin Screw Granulator
Wet granulation is a process used to create larger stable agglomerates (granules) from fine powders. However, despite wide adoption, it is often inefficiently operated, with high recycle ratios in continuous processes and high rejection rates in batch processes. This numerical study simulates a GEA ConsiGma™ 1 Twin Screw Granulator (TSG), following a standard framework for model-driven design.

A new uniaxial tester for measuring flowability and calibrating DEM models for cohesive particulates
Handling of particulate products is a task that is at the core of many industries, from pharmaceuticals to foods to mining. Measuring the flowability of such materials or characterising the properties for a DEM cohesive material model in a simulation is not necessarily a trivial task.
